At this time the report has not been finalized we have a draft version and plan to have a meeting in the next week. We plan to send out the report in May and we will also send a parent information sheet at the same time. The report will be a single page and will contain a rating scale with discriptive words rather then the use of numbers.
The report will also have a form that will allow for parent feedback so that we will be able to see peoples reactions. We plan to use this information to finalize the version of the report card that we will use in the 07/08 school year.

Reporting on LwICT
  • Tentative plans are division-wide reporting twice in the 2007 – 2008 year.
Integration with existing reporting
  • Plans are that it will be on the Student Information System report card, not an insert. Our school division is in the process of revising the Middle Years report card to possibly 3 terms. EY is already 3 terms. Therefore, we are thinking of reporting LwICT on the Term 2 and Term 3 reports.
Different types of reports
  • We have decided that one report at the end of the year would not be enough for parents. EY, MY and Huttarian.
Tips
  • Use the same terminology as the Dept. of Education as descriptors on the report. (Emerging, Developing, Transitioning, and Expanding).

Tips

6.3 How is your reporting on student literacy with ICT integrated with existing reporting?

Many schools are reporting anecdotally. Here is an example:
You play an important role in developing our monthly school newsletter. Our school newsletter is created using many computer programs, but the main program we use is Microsoft Publisher. This term you have made important decisions with regards to news lay out, formatting, information selection, editing and revision. You have interviewed people and photographed school events. You have selected appropriate pictures (which are often edited with various editing software) and information to place in the newsletter. You have become quite proficient over the last two terms working on our newsletter and I have observed great progress. At the beginning of the year, I had to make numerous revisions of the newsletter before we submitted it as a final copy, but as the year goes on I am making fewer and fewer revisions.
Some schools have incorporated the ‘ethical and responsible use of technology’ in a checkbox within a work habits section of a report.
